Research conducted in 2008, with the following conductive questions:

• How to sustain a research process in dance in São Paulo, in 2007?
• What space was there to the work and development of a research in dance in that context?
• How do the artists relate to such context?

We investigated the São Paulo contemporary dance context in the first decade of the XX century, as a way to look into the reality of the dance artists in São Paulo and their relation with the process of research in dance. After all, the context in which an artistic manifestation is placed, implies its artistic format.
